A well-designed outdoor kitchen considers prep-to-grill workflow, guest traffic patterns, refrigerator and storage placement, and connection to the dining area. For West Michigan, design also accounts for prevailing winds off Lake Michigan, shade from mature trees, and seasonal sun positioning.

Design takes 1-3 weeks. Appliance lead times add 2-6 weeks. Construction takes 2-4 weeks. Plan for 6-12 weeks total from first meeting to cooking your first meal.
Most built-in grills run on natural gas, which requires a dedicated line. We coordinate gas line installation as part of the project. Propane is an alternative.
It depends on structural capacity. Kitchen islands are heavy. We assess your deck's framing during the design consultation and recommend reinforcement or a ground-level alternative.
Basic grill islands start around $12,000-$20,000. Mid-range L-shaped kitchens run $25,000-$45,000. Full custom builds can exceed $60,000-$100,000.
Granite is the most popular -- handles freeze-thaw, UV, and grill heat. Concrete and porcelain slab also perform well. We do not recommend marble or laminate for exterior use.
